Terms, Conditions, and Liability Release
DEXA scans are known for being a quick, noninvasive, and generally safe procedure for assessing bone density and body composition. The amount of radiation exposure from a DEXA scan is very low, less than one-tenth the dose of a standard chest X-ray and less than a day's exposure to natural radiation. Because of this minimal radiation exposure, the risks associated with DEXA scans are considered extremely low, and the benefits of obtaining accurate bone density measurements typically far outweigh these minimal risks. Below are the terms and conditions for booking an appointment
Terms, Conditions, and Liability Release
By proceeding with the DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) Scan provided by DexaDash, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks and benefits associated with the procedure as outlined below, along with understanding the scope of services provided by DexaDash:
Risks:
-
Radiation Exposure: Although the DEXA scan utilizes a very low level of radiation—less than one-tenth the dose of a standard chest X-ray and less than a day's exposure to natural radiation—exposure to any level of radiation carries a slight risk of causing cancer over a long period.
-
Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant, you must inform the technician prior to the scan. Radiation exposure is avoided during pregnancy whenever possible to protect the developing fetus.
-
Allergic Reactions: Inform the technician if you have recently had a barium examination or have been injected with a contrast material for another type of scan. You may need to wait 10 to 14 days before undergoing a DEXA test to avoid potential reactions.
-
Personal Discomfort: While the DEXA scan is a non-invasive and generally painless procedure, you may experience minor discomfort due to the positioning required during the scan.
Benefits:
-
Noninvasive Diagnosis: The DEXA scan is a simple, quick, and noninvasive procedure that does not require anesthesia and has no known side effects within the typical diagnostic range.
-
Osteoporosis Detection: The scan is the current gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis, providing a reliable measure of bone density and helping to assess the risk of future fractures.
-
Treatment Monitoring: For individuals undergoing treatment for osteoporosis or other conditions affecting bone density, DEXA scans are instrumental in monitoring the effectiveness of treatment over time.
-
Safety: DEXA scans are considered safe for most individuals, with a very low risk of complications.
Scope of Service:
-
Non-Diagnostic Purpose: Please be aware that DexaDash provides DEXA scans solely for informational purposes. DexaDash is not a medical facility, and the scans are not intended for diagnostic use.
